Most things are on stand by without you knowing.

I have 5 things on my Harmony one, and they fall under 3 categories.

SKY HD

ACRYAN

BLU RAY.

Its amazing how it knows what it needs to do, and when, and what you want to do

Also if it doesnt do something right, , press help and it double checks whats wrong and fixes it,

BUY ONE..... BUY THE HARMONY ONE

Im new to home cinema systems etc, and have had the Harmony One for a little while, as Canada16 says, just hit the help if it does mot do as as you would like and it soon sorts it out. Mine took a day to get used to my set up, and has since worked flawlessly. I would not be without mine now. Though I do wish the wife would use it more often so I can finally get rid of all the other remotes clogging up the lounge!

Simon,

One of the keys to the brilliant abilities is the Pc set-up software which comes with the Harmony remote. This utilises a comprehensive on-line equipment database which allows the Harmony to identify the correct commands for all your AV equipment. The fairly flexible and intuitive set-up wizards are one of its strengths IMO. Simply run the set-up wizard, tell it what make and model of all the kit you want to control and (hopefully) all will be identified and commands loaded. If it cannot identify a piece of obscure equipment, all is not lost and the s/w will allow you to 'learn' IR commands for your remote. The second useful aspect of the set-up wizard is the 'Activities' which allow you to define with the touch of one button what kit you want on and what settings. For example, 'Watch Tv', can turn on the tv, set a predetermined channel & source, switch on your AV amp and set the appropriate source, turn on your Digibox etc all in one go! It is quite configurable and flexible, including changing the order you turn things on, or setting delays between turning things on (if required). The on screen buttons can be redefined and the s/w allows you to put your favourite/most used functions for a particular device right at your fingertips.

I don't think you can go far wrong with the Harmony One and it is a nice relief not to juggle half a dozen remotes around the lounge! Oh and it comes with a neat re-charging docking station!

Is it right that the harmony one can help update software i.e change firmware to allow multi region play back on a bluray player i.e a pioneer bdp51... im sure i read somewhere that this was the case??

I've had my HARMONY ONE for over 3 year's now and it still amaze's me with what it can do, i would be lost without it. Trust us it's one of the best if not the best out there in it's price range.

bigboss:And yes, all your AV equipment has to be in standby for the Harmony to work.

Do you mean that it won't switch a machine on from a cold off (ie no red light)? I only ask as I've recently got the Harmony One and don't quite understand what you mean by standby. Mine works if some of my boxes are turned on already. So for instance my Sky box could be off (standby - red light) and my tv and AVR could be on and I might be watching a bluray. If I click activities and then "watch Sky HD", the input changes, the sky box will turn on and so forth.

I will add that this remote is brilliant. It takes a little while tweaking and it's handy to be able to update it with different commands easily. Overall very good. My one pain is that my AVR remote's power toggle button doesn't work so it's the one thing I can't do with the Harmony One. If anyone has an idea how to get around this, please say.

Cheers.

Andy Clough:Not that I know of, but I could be wrong. I know the Harmony One is clever, but I'm not sure it's that clever.

It is possible. One of the forums was giving their username & password for their Harmony Account, & then there are steps to make your player multiregion for DVDs. Apparently, you can call customer services & get them to put the hex codes (if you know them) into your remote.

Hi Gerrard,

I assume the Logitech database recognised your Sony STRDA3400ES receiver? If so, have you gone into the 'Devices' menu for your AVR, select 'Customize Buttons', then on either the Standard Buttons or Additional Buttons tab, and checked one of the drop down lists which has all the available commands for your equipment? There is generally a huge amount of functions within this area which cannot be loaded during the initial set-up but can be added when you tweak.

I've just had a go at adding your AVR to my Logitech set-up (which it recognised) and if you select 'No I dont have a remote' during the set-up and then follow my previous instructions above, there is a Power toggle option in the drop down list. Just add this button to your Additional Buttons screen and move it up in priority onto Page 1 (so its nice an handy). You can also add any equipment function to your screen when using an 'Activity' function, by going into 'Customize buttons' on the main screen.

Hopefully this should ease your pain

Hi Nick.

Sorry, I've only just seen your posts.

Yes, all sorted. The guys at Logitech could not be more helpful, very swift email communication. It took a few attempts but now I'm fine. My Harmony One has officially replaced all my other remote controls. My eldest daughter (aged 7) thinks it's "cool" and can use it already.

Glad you got it sorted in the end. Ditto regarding the support service from Logitech

. When I had my very first set-up problems (or ..ahem operator problems), they were very quick and helpful in root causing the problem and finding a solution (apart from getting a slightly brighter idiot to do the set-up

).

Happy endings all round

Can anyone confirm that these remotes are compatible with Humax PVR's. I have a Freeview 9300 and a Freesat HDR.

I have been looking to replace my 8-9 remotes for ages but PVR's always seem to be the stumbling block and these are used most often.

I can confirm it definitely works with the Freeview HDR-Fox2 PVR and given that the Freeview PVR's were launched after the Freesat version, I strongly suspect it will also work with those.
