Feel free to comment. Looking to buy this combination.

Marantz PM6005+ CD6005 with Wharfedale Diamond 155.

? mark over Wharfedale quality control in the last 2 years, this is mainly the cabinet finishes. Not sure those would be the best, you have to be careful with larger Floorstanders, they generally need more space than standmounts and have a few other problems to. I would audition some speakers like the Q 20 and Dali Zensor 3.

3 stars is because of the poor finishing. sound is definitely 5 stars. i have the 121 so i know the sound characteristic of diamond 100 series.

i would like to find out what kind of result can this combo achieve.

unfortunately there is no such combo to audit in local shops.

only 3 star and not so good.

Why not try this ones

Q concept 20 http://www.whathifi.com/review/q-acoustics-concept-20

or Q 2020i http://www.whathifi.com/review/q-acoustics-2020i which is cheaper

just my 2c

Had the 155 and didnt feel the agile bass as reviewed, It is a bit uncontrolled and there is shuffing noise from the bass port with certain frequencies at higher volymes but it also was that shuffing noise from Dali zensor 7 as well. You should take a look at the new monitor audio silver 1 or 2 standmounter, the amp though is the best pick for the price I think.

I would consider different options with around £1,250 for budget I think you maybe able to get something better, have you considered used or ex-demo gear?

prefer new. any suggestion?

In normal rooms this system will give a big, forthright and most probably somewhat unruly sound.

It will go pretty loud and there will be plenty of bass, some of which may actually be related to the music being played.

Check out the Q Acoustics 2050i as a similarly bold but somewhat more refined option, prettier to. My own preference would be to tighten up the bass somewhat with a pair of Dali Zenzor 5s or a pair of standmounts.

The PM6005 and CD6005 are good choices I think but I would buy the Q Acoustics 2050i speakers instead of the Wharfedales.

Nothing wrong with the CDP and amp - speaker wise, I echo the views on the 2050i's but really you need to have a listen to a few others aswell.

There's a lot of choice if standmounts are also an option.
