Guru Audio - Scam Warning

Users beware - I think Guru Audio is no longer in business, but is still taking payments and not delivering.

I had previously purchased some Guru Q10 speakers and was in contact with the company as they weren't sounding their best. Having contacted them through their website, they offered to refurb the speakers for what seemed like a reasonable price (c. £500) and arranged for them to be collected through a courier in February. Having taken payment for the refurb they have now gone silent. After initially slow replies when I called, emailed, texted, they have now gone silent. I have little hope of seeing the speakers or payment again.

I believe that the company has gone bust, but are doing what they can to bring money in, so want others to beware.

As a further update, and yes this has been going on for more than 4 months since my post and nearly 8 months since originally sending my speakers to Guru - still no speakers. A few emails that this is coming, but frankly dont trust this company. Even if their speakers are the greatest invention in historiy, it isnt worth it.

If you paid by Credit Card, you can get the credit card company to step in and assist you.

Hi,

I think I have been scammed too.
What was the outcome for you if I may ask?

I'm glad you think £500 is a reasonable price Tommy 🤨
I dread to think how much the Q10 must have cost for you to have come to that conclusion.

Goodness knows what a £500 'refurb' constitutes, but I'd be more concerned about the fact that it was even necessary.

I hope you get satisfaction.
What with you and Spoonster - who's wired them 3,600 Dollars!! then hears nothing.....
If ever there was a company that doesn't deserve its customers.....

I’ve just tried to email Guru audio and my messages have been blocked.

Mmm, it rather depends if the people above have taken over the business (in which case they have the deposit paid above) or merely a distribution role, in which case they are unlikely to honour a payment made directly.

@Spoonster I suggest you talk to your bank in case they can recall your payment or investigate in some way. In the UK there might be some protection from Section 75, though I don’t believe it covers direct transfers. https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/section75-protect-your-purchases/
