My new Mezzo 6's are a little wobbly on my wooden floor(loose floorboard) looking to get some granite plinths; don't know whether to go down the 'chopping board' route or get some 'dedicated' plinths......

Any links to any sites that sell either would be a great help......checked Asda they only carry 'blue-speckled' granite chopping boards.....looking ideally for plain black........

Thanks guys

Messiah:They are expensive though. Maybe a local Stone Merchant may be able to provide some. I'm sure someone on here done this..........

Exactly- if in doubt ,go to your nearest posh designer Kitchen place and ask where they get their granite worktops. That Stone merchant will sell you offcuts. If you are anywhere near Bucks, Stewkley Stone is a good place.

A quick Google brings up THIS.

I am sure there must be better deals out there somewhere though...

(I just have Tesco Granite Chopping Boards but not sure if they still do them..)

Hi,

Go down to your local B&Q superstore (the big one) and you can get 30cm x 30cm 1in thick white granite slabs for about £4 each, or even a bit less.

Also, I went to my local fireplace maker, and they have off cuts of granite for speakers to go on, and it comes in all colours and can be polished.

Another thing I got when was there, was a 3/4in slate off cut for my amp, psr and cd player to sit on. It has an inert quality for sound damping, and sits on my shelf etc. Think 2 of them cut to size, the edges beveled and polished were about £20. Well worth the money.

Erm, can you not straddle said offending loose board with existing spikeys on cabs or don't you use them ?. Unless you isolate the plinth ( focul pods or suchlike) its still going to wobble as i doubt if these chopping boards will be man enough to flatten it,plus as speakers go your 6s are not all that heavy.

Edit, try a hammer and nail
