Good evening pilgrims, i paid a visit to my local Hi-Fi/Cinema shop this particular afternoon and i enquired about a certain Pioneer DV - LX 50, the manager rang another store to see if they had any in stock and luckily they did. He said i could have it for £280 (a bargain price seeing as everywhere else it flogging it for £340 to £400 elsewhere), would anyone else on here say that's a good deal? I'm picking it up tomorrow after work so i'll let you know how it is.

Thanks to all who reply, Rorschach.

P.S. Does anyone know if the Scart Cables that Curry's sell are a good standard or am i better off ordering from somewhere like Amazon? I've been on a few AV/HI FI websites in the past but not been on them for a few weeks so anyone any good suggestions? I live in the UK.

Thanks again, Rorschach.

How do you like the DVLX50?

Had mine since December, marvellous upscaler!

I bought mine as much for its multi-channel audio capabilities as I did DVD playback and I think it's great for SACD or DVD-A in 5.1, especially as there's no need for loads of analogue interconnects, just one HDMI for everything!

I'm loving it, very impressed and money well spent, really am glad i bought the beast. It's huge as well lol, i've had to nick the coffee table from downstairs even though i had a shelf put up for a dvd player (oh well, the shelf will do for more dvd's!) I'll be playing dvd's and the odd cd, i love the new addition to my Home Cinema. Also it's not that far behind my Panasonic BD 55 so that really is saying something, the Panny just gives it the final big touches.

Thanks, Rorschach.

Intersting, you mean its DVD upscaling and sound (though obviously not HD audio) compares favourably with the BD55? That's pleasing to know, as I'm holding out on buying into Blu-Ray until either there's a sensibly-priced universal player (like the DVLX50 is for DVD) or there's some seriously must-have discs that I need to watch.
