Since 2012 there should be one of these on ads and packaging ...

If not then you don't really know if it's up to at least the minimum HDMI technical standards. (Most 'frou-frou' or boutique cables aren't.)

Gold plating is only necessary in places like salt mines or trawlers.

I recently got 3 good quality 1.5m 'High Speed' certified cables for £4.50 off Amazon

Yes, CSL is good. I'm a big fan of Neet HDMI cables. Their 10m cable (which I'm using currently) is the thickest in the market.

Regardless of gold plating, HDMI will not give color accuracy like 24+1 DVI-D will. Although color accuracy doesn't matter much on a TV I reckon.
