I am having a wall unit designed and I am looking at a custom made tempered glass bench for the HiFi components including Planar 6 turntable. the glass is both a feature, a stable base and provide transparency similar to other parts of the wall unit.

The bench in the design is 1800mm long x 470mm wide. I am looking at glass about 25mm thick (1") or more.

Opinions on the this, inc the thickness of the glass bench to support these components?

Not sure why you want glass that thick.
I had an Atacama hifi stand that had smoked glass shelves (toughened glass) and they were less than 1/4 inch thick.
The fact your design is so long means it would need some lateral supports and glass isn't one of the best bases for hifi kit.

Glass possibly the last thing you want any turntable sitting on
Rega more than any other TT need the right support / isolation
Rega need very , very light rigid surface / £29 Ikea Lack £119 Rega wall bracket

£13,500 Rega Naiad will sound better on a £29 Ikea Lack table then a rack with 1inch thick tempered Glass

Will sound better with 2 Ikea £8 Chopping boards with a inflated Bicycle Tyre

Put a Rega on a £10,000 active isolation platform & you will totally transform the sound

.....Are you also thinking of mounting the kefs on said glass shelf 🤔, that'd be a big no from me.
If you want something a bit left field and it needs to be a long unit....I'd recommend......and it's not a audiophile rack of any sort...The Islington, Acacia and marble large tv unit from .oak furniture land ( if your in the UK). It's 165cm in length / width depending on which way you look at it..lol....beautiful unit and absolutely solid, weighing in @ around 80kg.
