Morning All,

I have just purchased a Samsung Smart TV 40ES6300 after our previous Samsung (non-smart TV) gave up the ghost. This worked perfectly with all sound going through my Denon AV, etc... but now I have the new Smart TV I can't for the life of me get sound to go through the AV when watching something through the Smart Hub - i.e. a film through Lovefilm. Watching Sky or a BD works fine.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Hi,

If its anything like my Panasonic Smart TV - the GT30 - its the same problem.

I have to use an optical out from tv to amp. The hdmi lead will not do it for whatever reason.

Maybe I am doing something wrong too ? Would be nice to get some re-assurances.

My av amp is a Sony amp for info.

Some additional detail regarding connections - Everything (speakers, BD player, Sky+HD) goes in to the A/V receiver with one HDMI output to the TV.

I have done some further research and found this forum a useful source of information:

http://forums.cnet.com/7723-13973_102-503961/no-sound-from-samsung-tv-apps-netflix-youtube-etc/

From this I will try the following, but not necessarily in order of priority:

+ Try the HDMI2 from the TV

+ Set audio on the TV menu to external speakers

+ On the TV, go to MENU>SOUND>SPDIF OUTPUT>PCM

+ Set the Receiving mode on the A/V to AUTO

+ Use an optical cable from TV to A/V

I will feedback later if anything worked.

Audio return is only supported via hdmi2 on the tv

Hey AnotherJoe,

Can you alloborate please - especially as you have the same amp as me.

Can you let me know what settings you have / which inputs you put your tv through on the Sony please.

Thanks

The OP's tv and amp both support ARC (audio return channel) so he just needs to connect his amp to the hdmi2 input on his tv, and on his amp set HDMI Control to on

Although your tv supports ARC (input1), your sony amp doesnt - so you will have to use an optical out from the tv to the amp.

OK, apologies for the delay as I was away all week end.

Just to echo previous post - Eureka! I used the HDMI2 connection and for good measure I set the Audio on the TV to External Speakers. The only thing I did notice by doing this was that the lip sync went out, but this was solved by going into the A/V menu and putting a 200ms delay in and it all works perfectly now.

Thanks all for the help, this cured a headache for me.
