Hi guys,

does anyone know (nudge to son_of_sj) how to get one source ie my ps3 to multiple tvs? Sometimes I want to watch a blu ray on my conservatory tv without having to move the ps3 or have a dedicate blu ray player out there. Any help would be appreciated.

cheers

rocket

I've got a few films stored on my NAS drive, and can watch them on my main TV (via Boxee Box) & bedroom TV (via jailbroken Apple TV, and recently discovered that the Samsung can directly play films off my NAS drive without the Apple TV) wirelessly.

Hello rocketrazor - I am suitably nudged! :)

As ever, bigboss and professorhat give excellent contributions. Professorhat's device would be about the same price as my method, and, being wireless, will be much more acceptable domestically. What I do, with a few variations that I won't bore you with, is take the signal from my Blu-Ray player or other source, and then duplicate into two or four copies using an HDMI splitter. I use Lindy electronics for example this device http://www.lindy.co.uk/audio-video-c2/splitters-c159/hdmi-c162/4-port-hdmi-splitter-p1622, though Keene Electronics are also good. I then use a 2m HDMI cable to connect of of the split outputs to the AV reciever in my parlour, then I use a 20m HDMI cable, like this http://www.lindy.co.uk/cables-adapters-c1/audio-video-c107/hdmi-c109/20m-premium-standard-speed-hdmi-cable-p2545 to connect the other split outputs to the AV receivers in the kitchen and parlour. My method therefore does involve lengths of fairly thick cables going from room to room - I have drilled through the wooden door frames to allow the various cables to pass.

Just one word of caution, and this will apply to professorhat's method as well as to mine. All will be well provided that the final destinations of the long (wired or wireless) links are all the same type of device, that is, they are all televisions (whch may or may not accept 5.1 sound) or they are all receivers that do accept 5.1 sound. If you mix up the destination devices, such that some can take 5.1 sound and others can accept only 2.0 stereo sound, then ALL the outputs will be degraded to 2.0 stereo. It took me weeks to figure that one out!
