Hi everyone,

I am thinking of setting up some Hi Fi in my Den ( spare bedroom really), but will only be using headphones probably

Grado SR60.

The question is what equipment do I need. A CD player and turntable (preferably fron E bay) and then what. Will a

Pre Amp like Tag Maclaran PA10 or Linn Kollektor be OK by itself or do you need an amp as well.

Any ideas or equipment suggestions welcome.

I guess it depends a little on what I need, but around £500.

The turntable could be added later.

I1m looking forward to your ideas.

Can't speak for the Tag McLaren but I own a Linn Kolektor and that does have a headphone socket on it, although adequate for many peoples needs it's not of a very high standard. I certainly wouldn't use anything better than SR60's with it.

If you were willing to settle on a single source component, say a CD player, I'd recommend you forget about a pre-amp and just buy a dedicated headphone amp - something like a Creek OBH-11 or Graham Slee does a better quality dual input unit that you could use with a phono preamp if you really want vinyl playback and have deeper pockets.
