Thank you @R2D2 you gave me an idea to start up a gaming thread 🙂
Post your comments on anything relating to gaming, be it Nintendo, PlayStation, XBOX, PC and SteamOS or other gaming formats not mentioned.

To kick off, if you have a SteamOS account, they're so many excellent games that are free. One of my favourite freebies is World of Warships, check the link.

Also your thoughts on handhelds, do you prefer traditional consoles like those offered by Playstation or XBOX, or are handhelds the future of gaming? I'm sure the two can co-exist.
I don't have either a console or handheld, I'm using my PC, which is still in my opinion the highest level of gaming. What are your thoughts?

Truly amazing, where's the Commodore 64? 😂
You must have had every Nintendo gaming device that was ever released!
Truly gobsmacked.
Did you sell it all?
I had Spectrum, my mate had C64.
I had Nintendo, my mate had Sega.
I had PlayStation (you see where this is going, lol), my mate had XBox.

I’ve sold a lot of it but still have all the PlayStations (you can see them in my home cinema thread), the Nintendo Gameboys (but not the DS), and the Spectrums.

Whilst this has been built up over many, many years, it was at a point where I wasn’t really using any of it so sold it. I still have the more sentimental stuff.

I would have kept the Nintendo consoles but the NES/SNES were starting to yellow (which really bugs me as I like stuff to be pristine) so sold them. This then meant I had to sell the N64 and GameCube as I couldn’t have half a collection. lol. Plus, I can pretty much play the games I want on the Switch (online).

That was the same with me and my best friend growing up, I had the Nintendo then Super Nintendo he had the Sega Master System then Sega Mega Drive, it worked well like that.

I have had virtually all the gaming consoles going over the years but ended up selling them. Although my niece who lives with me and my dad has the Nintendo Switch OLED which I gave her after I decided I didn’t want it anymore and the Nintendo Game Cube too we have always kept that for years for my niece to use.

I just started gaming on my iPad yesterday and signed up to a 3 month free trial. First game I downloaded was Football Manager 2023 or 2024 can’t quite remember and it was pretty enjoyable managing a team (that was down to you, so thanks).

My first gaming console was an Atari, I loved it. Then the late Sir Clive brought out his pregnant calculator, the Sinclair Spectrum, enjoyed it for a while, then I noticed my mates were having more fun with Commodore64 so I switched and never looked back 🙂

I recall owning an Amstrad, I guess I fell for Sugar's marketing. It had cleaner graphics than the Commodore but wasn't liquid smooth.

In my later teens almosy everyone had NES, just to be different I got Sega Megadrive and it was far superior but wasn't able to complete with PS1, which surpassed NES in terms of popularity and the rest was history.
