Frame rate problem with Toshiba HD-DVD

Here's a query for any of you with a Tosh HD player.
The Auto selection doesn't seem to work (on both my EP-30 and 35) and it means I have to stop the machine and manually select the appropriate frame rate for either 1080p/24fps or lower rates for non HD extras or a regular DVD. Sometimes the machine even defaults to 1080p/60hz and I have to reset it.
It's a pain. I have the latest firmware (3.0) loaded but this doesn't cure the problem.
Has anybody else found this and come up with a workable solution?

Hi there, the problem you have there is actually two different things - auto doesn't do anything re hi-def imaging, it simply selects betweenpal and ntsc sources as they're detected. 24fps 1080p is a setting only acheivable manually - in other words, you always have to adjust it yourself dependent on whether you're watching high def or regular pal dvd's. Something you could try (which I've not done yet myself is set your auto setting to ntsc only, then frame rate to 1080p/24fps and then try standard dvd.

Hi,

On a seperate issue. Do you know if there are still toshiba hd players available to buy?

K - thanks for this. I'll give it a shot. If it doesn't work, I guess I'll just have to live with it. No point in kicking Tosh, given the demise of the format.
B - Tosh certainly have some (they told me that they might be able to replace the units if they're faulty), but I bought my second one from a store on Tottenham Court Road. E-Bay has lots, but they go for fairly high prices. Amazon.fr had some a few weeks back, too.

You can also try the classified ads on places like the another site, if I can mention them.

Well, the above sentence makes no sense, as the location I mentioned has disappeared automatically somehow from my posting!! is this normal??!! Erm........
