Hi,

In the post about Oldboys settings for his (and my) Panasonic 500 new Blu Ray player he mentions that I need to format the memory card before I put it in my player.

Well, I have bought one now - slight overkill on memory - 4 GB - its a PNY one if that matters version 4.

Before I stick it in how do I format the thing ? I thought you just bung them in the slot and the player does the rest?

Oldboy, who is really helpful has got me puzzled now - apologies for the basic question but as ever I am confused.

I thought you could directly format the card in Windows without the need for any additional software. Simply right click the SD card when it shows up in "My computer" (when connected to your Windows PC) & select "format", then "full format".

It can cause problems in some devices when formatted by Windows.

Forget all the advice given, although helpful it's far to complicated as it's far simpler than that! Just put the card in the player and it will prompt you to do it and carry it out via the player, no need to format it elsewhere just stick it in the player and follow the on screen instructions, simple as that. That's all i needed to do with my SD card with the BDP500 :)

Ooops did it come across like that? If so i'm sorry for any confusion and sorry to all the helpful posters above, the advice given was very useful just not necessary for this device...if formatting is required the player will prompt you to do it and then carry it out for you, simples!
