Hi

was wondering if anyone here at the forums has heard the 926 and unitiqute combo.

The 926 have 91.5db sensitivty so on paper looks like qute would be handle these speakers.

listening will done at around 40 volume on the qute.

will the combo work at low to moderate listening levels ?

interested in your thoughts

thanks

The Focal should be fine with the Uniqute.....just make sure you like the combination and try some alternatives as well.

I heard aria 906 and Qute combo which I liked a lot just not sure if the 30 watts would be enough for the bigger 926 floor standers.

in theory it should be enough, since 91 db is good sensitivity. I you wanna be sure, you could just look at Unitilite. Or get a unitiqute now, and ad a NAP100 later if you still don't find it enough.

Hear some other combos as well. On another forum for naim someone is running the xs with the 926 and 3 weeks later he is struggling with the combo. Some have suggested it might be the naim/focal synergy others have suggested the more powerful Xs is struggling to get the best out of them.

I heard the Aria 926 along with a series of Naim amps, at a Naim evening held at a local dealers last year. The 926 was the only pair of speakers used during the whole session.

Unfortunately, non of the Uniti range was used as the demos were based on the integrated amp range. It involved working up through the amp range, along with power supply upgrades, where possible.

From the Nait 5si, through the XS2 and SuperNait2, plus the latter with an external power supply, I found non of the combinations particularly appealing. With the first two amps, there was a tendency to HF sibilance on a number of music tracks. The SuperNait2 was better in that respect, but the power "upgrade" robbed the music of air and spaciousness. The sound was a little too forward and strident on some tracks and overall, bass performance was a bit weak for such a floorstander.

I briefly heard the 926 in the background with a different amp at another shop. There was a lot more bass coming from it, as far as I could tell.

Maybe the view that Naim and Focal are not a good combination has some substance?

I found exactly the same thing on a Naim/Focal day......though it is personal.

i think the unitiqutes, as well as the first gen XS are smoother sounding. But auditioning should be done. Alternatively, OP, you could look at Pioneer N50A and a Roksan Kandy K3 or, if you want a warmer presentation, Croft Phono Integrated.
