Floorstanders base support help needed....

Hello all.

The mrs doesn't like the fact that my speaker spikes go into the nice carpet. , however she is fine if I choose to stands the speakers on a base.

So......I have bought some spike shoes, and I was thinking about a pair of granite or wooden slabs. The shoes will go onto the slab, and the speakers on top of them.

Now, what would I put underneath the slabs (if anything) that would isolate to an extent, but not pierce the carpet?

You need to show her that the speaker spikes leave no trace whereas a granite slab will completely crush the pile over it's entire footprint. If she still thinks that's a better solution then there's not much hope really...

Your better off to spike the speakers, if you put a base down on the carpet it will leaver an indentation similar to what a sofa or table will do, then she will be....
