I can now confirm that following 9 months of 37phone calls, most civil, some civil but threatening, numerous headaches, 2 lost/stolen discs, many e-bayed discs, several thrown remotes, a virtual divorce, a filled-out claims court document, a 3 month stay for the player at the Hotel LG in Slough, and a call out by an LG engineer, my LG BH-100 Super Multi Blu HD DVD/Blu ray player finally plays Blu-ray discs. The repair/update was eventually done with a firmware update disc done by an LG engineer AT HOME because LG UK could not do it!!! I still had no sound on a number of music discs though but I traced this (eventually) to my co-ax digital audio cable being plugged into my co-ax video output terminal on the unit by the visiting LG engineer. I can now confirm that as the owner of said player, which uses all the same connections and cables that there is NO distinguishable difference in quality between the 2 formats viewed in 1080p on a 96" screen. With the demise of HD DVD, I will continue to take full advantage of the price and availability of this format over BD for as long as possible although I admit to still being concerned as to the players ability to continue when profile 2.0 comes mainstream.

Good to hear it's finally sorted!

In theory, Profile 2.0 shouldn't affect the playing of the movies on the disc, just the ability to get access to some of the special features on the disc. However, given your ordeal, I can understand your scepticism!
