Hi all, I am about to purchase a Sony KDL 40W4500, and am looking at either the Denon AVR 1909 or the Yamaha DSP AX863SE recievers, my heart is going with the yamaha but unfortunately my wallet isnt until next year, is it worth hanging on till January with all the doom and glom in the world and wait for the sales, will these items be falling much??

Also any advice on speaker systems? Have to be relatively wife friendly, my room is 15ft square (well not really square unfortunately) was thinking Tannoy Arena Lite or Mordaunt Short Genie.

Sorry forgot to add I will be watching Blu - Ray through PS3 and cable from a V+ box if this makes any difference to your opinions.

Im new to all this, but what ive learnt so far has helped me out, dont dismiss the Onkyo 606, it has near enough everything and at £400 BARGAIN, also look at the Jamo 102's, i to am getting the 40w4500, god i cant wait

Yes, the Onkyo TX-SR606 is still a good buy, especially if you can get one at a decent price. Have you also considered the Yamaha DSP-AX763 which is more affordable than the 863 at £400, and our current Best Buy at that price?

As for surround speakers, both receivers will work well with the Jamo A102HCS5 if you want something compact, or the Q Acoustics 1010i 5.1 set-up if you can accommodate slightly larger, more conventional speakers.

Up the budget and you could get KEF's recently revised KHT2005.3 package (£700) which looks stylish and sounds superb.

Thanks for the replies, yes I had thought of the AX763 but it doesnt upscale (sorry should have mentioned that earlier).

Think I will be getting the following

Sony KDL40W4500 the Yamaha 863SE and the KHT2005.3

Think it looks like I will be splashing out just over two grand! (divorce on standby), she doesnt understand, couldnt even tell when I upgraded my speaker cables between my tannoy floorstanders and kenwood CD and amp.

Any ideas if prices coming down in new year???
