Tranquil PC have released a fanless PC that appears to be a good alternative for PC users, not quite as small. Lower graphics but better overall, options for tweekers as well. They also have a higher spec version on their AVA Media site. They use the current i3 and i5 processors, and more importantly it would sit nicely on a hifi or av rack.

HDMI and Blu Ray as well.

Nice PC, only made possible thanks to Intel and the mini ITX. HTPC enthusiasts have been waiting for PC's based on this board for a fair while.

Expensive though. Mac Mini, does not make a good HTPC, software is very poor. Much cheaper alternatives available, bigger case such as Shuttle could be cheaper and offer more potential for upgrades or replacement parts.

I agree on the value point, however its hard to find, an off the shelf PC, that is specifically designed for silence, and suitable as a music server. I wish more manufacturers would provide details of noise levels. One thing that Apple are good at.
