Anyone with any experience of these?

Have had the ER6i's in the past which were great in most areas apart from bass. I will be using them with an Iphone (the new one) and listen to mainly Indie and Rock in Apple lossless format. Need in earphones to avoid leaking sound on buses, trains and in the office.

I am looking for an upgrade from my CX300's. Have tried so many over the last couple of years, through friends and Amazon (not marketplace sellers) and have yet to find a pair that I really liked.

Shure SE110's - great isolation / so-so sound.

Etymotic ER6i - great isolation / not much bass but generally very good sound.

Klipsch - couple of different models but couldn't get a decent fit

Ultimate Ears Superfi.3 - probably best sound but average isloation and a little uncomfortable.

Sennheiser CX300s - very good with Comply foam tips but want more.

Bose in earphones - terrible - poor sound and fit.

I tested most of the phones in your list about a year ago and settled on one not in your list. The Westone UM2s! Amazing sound and comfort and for running there isn't any mircophonics (amping from the wires rubbing). If you don't mind looks and love bass, I got my girl a set of atrio's and they are just as good and cheaper (maybe better). Westone customer service rocks! And there is a 2 year warrenty with a mail in card!

I love mine to death!

xmotleyx, many thanks for your comments.

I have heard good things about Westone and have wanted to give them a go for a while now. Don't think there any suppliers here in Liverpool though. Will have a bit of google in a minute.

Not come across Atrio's before so again more google.

Also consider the new CX-300 II, but I suspect its high frequencies may not be as good as the original, I could be wrong though. WHF need to review.

EDIT: Oops, WHF have reviewed them, seem unbeatable.

Several of the review team have recently had wax poured in their ears, or Hopi candles or whatever, in order to have Etymotic earpieces made.

Expect some bloggery soon on their experiences with the earphones - well, we live in hope...

Hello,

I have not heard the HF5 but I have ER4Ps and they are superb. I agree with Andrew - a mould offers the best performance and the bass takes a giant leap with custom ear moulds.

Best regards,
Darren
