Just wanted to let people know how I'd got on with this, and also ask a couple of questions.
The projector and ceiling mount were delivered ahead of time, and the screen on time. No problems except the projector 'rod' along the bottom of the screen was shoved into the mounting at one end and I had to take the end cap off to open up the mounting a bit more and free it. No big drama though.
So very pleased with the delivery from ProjectorPoint. They kept me up to date with emails, and the online devliery tracking was very good and accurate.
It was fairly easy to mount the projector on the ceiling and the lens shift made it easy to set up. Hanging the manual Panoview screen wasn't too hard either.
Images from this projector are great with good colours, detail, and contrast, and even modes that will work well in a fully bright room, (as long as you aren't watching dark and gloomy pictures). I watched the grand prix yesterday and it was very good, (excepting the result!). Only really notice the noise occasionally when it's in the birghtest modes as well.
The only potential problem is with motion on DVDs and I'm hoping it's just how I've got things configured. Roman holiday had a lot of judder in different scenes, as did POTC in a couple of scenes, and some in the initial panning through the corridor scenes in Alien, and a couple of scenes in Ronin. Most motion is fine, but anything with a camera pan with lines running most of the vertical length of the screen seemed to judder. This is on an XDE 500 set to auto for upscaling. I know there are potential issues with film and big screens due to 24 frame filming, but this seems worse than I remember when demoing an HD20.
I did then set the XDE 500 to specifically 1080P and watched about half of Mothman Prophecies and it was totally fine for any motion or panning. Hoping that might have been the issue but not convinced. Does anyone know the best setting in terms of watching DVDs on large screens?
Also, a final couple of questions. With the projector on the ceiling is it OK to leave the lense cap off? And is it OK to leave the projector turned on, (effectively in standby), as the switch at the back is hard to get to?
Hope my mini reviewn has been useful, and any advice would be much appreciated.
