energy saving socket

i have just got my toshiba 32C3030D, and it is great, thanks for your recommendation. i have a few questions which i'll post seperately in order not to confuse myself

when you turn it off it obviously goes into standby, but it doesnt have a switch on the tv to turn it off completely. so can anyone recommend an energy saving plug? i have seen some which protect against power surges which is a nice feature, but my main point is i dont want one another remote!
