Yep. I owned their XPA2 amp and XDA1 DAC a few years ago. The DAC was nothing special but the amp was nce enough. Problem was that both items were faulty and not having a local Emotiva dealer (I live in Jamaica), it wasn't worth it to send the amp back for repairs or to get a refund on the DAC. So I wouldn't purchase from that brand again.

That said, if you have a local dealer, then it might be worth checking out. Otherwise I wouldn't bother. The amps are extremely heavy which means massive shipping costs and a real pain if you need to send them back for repairs.

I was intersted in this brand in the past , Their customs service is excellent and fast but the big issue for me was that if any problem with the units will occur I have to send on my own cost back to the US for a repair ... to send a 40.00 kg monos (per unit !) to the US will cost a fortune , so I gave up .

I prefer brands that have a local customs service so I can deal with .

I had heard mixed reviews regarding the Emotiva some said that they have excellent products with great sound others said their products are

unreliable or that the sounds is awful -too bright and edgy , Can't comment on that because I didn't hear Emotive products ever .

I do prefer to make audition of every unit before I buy but Emotive are selling directly to customers so it looks to me like a gamble to buy directly from the company without an option to test it :wall:

If you live in the US, they are terrific to work with. You're free to try the equipment and return within 30 days if unhappy. I've used the XPA5 and still use their XDA-1 DAC. Right now I'm intrigued with their new AVR, the Fusion, but their last version was very buggy.
