Email Notices

Hi.....I was about to do a post suggesting and asking the possibility of email notices for updates to posts, when I've just noticed it has actually been talked about and was the case previously ?

Can this not be turned back to be an option, if one is a part of an ongoing post ? I understand it can be annoying if you don't want it/like it, or if a post goes on for some time, but if it was an option box, it would be useful - I know from a photojournalism forum I use a fair bit, that it's handy, especially if you are involved in multiple threads, or threads that have a long life or get suddenly re-ignited after a period of time....It's somewhat difficult and time consuming to have to 'manually' check all the posts that you have been a part of or are following the discussion - and remember them !

It's just handy to get an email and know that something has been added....and if it gets annoying or you no longer have have any interest, to simply opt out of the notifications...?

We turned the email notification off as most people preferred not to get a constant barrage of emails when posting, but I'll find out if it's possible to turn it back on for an individual user.

Cheers......I'm surprised the majority went the other way! I guess it's me !

I mean, how do the staff there track all these threads, especially ones they have been involved with - sit there all day and go through them all ?! Or perhaps I shouldn't ask...!ÿ

I know on my account on Lightstalkers.org, there is a general preference to receive notices or not, and then also the ability to opt out of individual posts should/when you want to...It's just a useful little preference, that's all.... ÿ

Indeed - it's just we found that various upgrades done by our digital people had the effect of reverting the email option to on for everyone, which was driving us caracas trying to sort it out.

And yes, we do go through all threads - it's what we call weekends.

Yeah, I know the feeling ! A W'end without staring at the Macs...Hmmm, must have been about 10 years ago, along with the last proper holiday! Sad.
