Am looking around for some bargain power cables, and on Ebay you find a quantity of chunky, fat cables terminated with High Quality (or fake, or Factory contraband) C-029 like terminations, at around 25-30pounds from Hong Kong, anyone had any experience of such cables???????????

Supras are good, sheilded with a thick foil. Im not sure about the last one.Its upto you, this type of money, id suggest try and get a supra 2.5mm.

I dont think id go for one of the hong kong ones.

How many you want, and for what types of kit...?

The Kit is mentioned Below, but was willing to change my amp's and PS3 and TV, the amp and TV first because the freebies cable supplied are EU standard plug and in Malta we use the UK standard, and don't really like running it through an adapter as it feels loose, Basically I will need 4 in Total

AV reciver, PS3, TV and Subeoofer

a few days ago, there was a thread on the pinkfish forum warning people about fake cables from hong kong .... (I would post the forum link, but it is against house rules)

to summarise:

the interconnect was cheap (£22) and included shipping .... the cable was advertised as being Pure Silver

the buyer received the cable, decided to strip it and was very dissapointed (he also posted pics of the cable in various stages of stripping it)

the sleeve had the following inscription:

'Van Den HUL M. C. D 102 MK III Hybrid >Halogen free<', in gold writing

not saying that all cables from Hong Kong/China are fake, but be very careful, especially if the cable costs a lot of money

and an official warning on the Van Den Hul Website:

Thanks Dave

The Supra have made a really good impression on you, so I am very tempted to give them a try, the only drawback will be the shipping as have contacted the seller on other items and prices a bit though to Malta, think am going for 2 of them first and then see after scouting a bit around.

Do you connect all to the Tacima, as that is what I am doing till now and was very impressed with the results.

If you consider that the parts to make a decent power cable can be sourced for £20 (and that is a retail price) off ebay, it is easy to see how such power cords can start at £20 made. Hopefully ebay is the means to get quality cables for sensible prices, as opposed to the silly money cables we could only source from hifi shops.

My rule of thumb would be to buy from the UK from people who make the cables up themselves. That is why I think Silver High Breed are excellent. There is pride in the work and they strive to get and keep good feedback on ebay.
