Hi there,

I'm using EAC to rip all my CDs to .flac format, however I have, so far, 3 CDs (Moby - Hotel, Joss Stone - The Soul Sessions and Gorillaz - Demon Days) that are copy protected and EAC can't/won't do its job :-(

Does anyone know a way around this, or am I just stuck?

TIA.

ooh, interesting question. i use eac but havent come up against this yet.

by the by, i used to have this with nero when burning. id just use nero's ripper to rip the songs - it had a problem with burning them but not ripping, for some reason.

Anyway, i do have a point - maybe try to rip with, say, winamp (it supports flac) and see what happens...

I've been using EAC for nearly two years now. It has always copied any disc, copy protection or not.
However, I can't be sure EAC will always rip any disc, because I haven't tried the cds you were trying to rip...
First try different options in eac preferences. If no success, try different ripper.

Make sure you have autorun switched off. Some CDs used to automatically install software that would enable zhit quality playback on PC (and stop ripping)...alternatively press shift whilst its loading.

Personallì, I have returned a couple of such CDs, and obtained then by other means. When I buy a CD, I want a redbook CD, that will also play on my PC, and in the car. Any such CD doesn't deserve the money.

I have a few hundred CDs and I have never experienced this. Unfortunately, I nothing further to add to the replies given already although I would be interested in any solution found.

Thanks everyone for your answers.

I did discover that I was using an old version of EAC. The EAC website was down when I originally downloaded it. Unfortunately the latest version doesn't fair any better, but I do at least have accurate rip installed now.

My drive is an LG GSA-4160B DVD-RAM drive.

I eventually persevered with one track from Demon Days, and it did rip it, and it does play, but the EAC log states lots of errors:

There were errors

Maybe I shouldn't worry if it all works!!

Thanks again.
