Chinese ownership doesn't stop KEF being big sellers, or people rating them highly. No reason that Dynaudio products will suffer.

I'm afraid it's how it's going to be, more and more. Huge non-European corporations and sovereign wealth funds buying up everything they can. Days of empires reversed, with no cannon fire and atrocities.

Chinese ownership is one thing, but it's more depressing when the manufacturing is transferred over to China. It's what puts me off buying any IAG brand product for example.

. I know what you mean. The logic fails me somewhat too, because if it merits investment, and stays profitable, why does nobody in the UK or Europe see that?

I expect the Indians were a bit upset when we took the cotton industry from them in the 18th/19th century. The world goes through cycles like this and we have no inherent right to own particular things.

Unless they just want to buy it to learn everything about speaker manufacturing, replicate and empower the Chinese manufacturers as future competitors. When you buy QUAD or KEF or Dynaudio, you buy everything, including intellectual property, patents, technical drawings, archives, all of it. Not just the brand.

And speakers made with goer teks! Water proof yet breathable speakers.....maybe this is a market we had all let pass by until now 🙂

GoerTek produces audio SMDs (Surface Mounted Devices) like small mobile phone speakers and microphones.

Dynaudio will benefit absolutely nothing from them. They will benefit a lot from Dynaudio. It's like the biggest Chinese bicycle maker bought Ducati.

The GoerTek motto in english is Have sound, Will travel.

I can't see any good coming out of this one! One thing is a company that move production to China, leaving all the R&D in the country of origin, but not "selling" the philosophy and not changing the way things are made.

another thing is selling the majority of the company, the production will be moved to China, thats for sure, and slowly the "seller" will lose control of the process, he is the minority partner!

HiFi markets are changing. European and American customers are buying more headphones and home cinema equipment instead now. The Chinese on the other hand are still keen on two channel hifi and like high end hifi equipment that's designed and made in England/Europe by English/European companies. It has kudos, this is what they want and they are buying it by the container load. This is where the money is now.

GoerTek is one of the worlds largest manufacturers of audio components for mobile phones, tablets and other devices. GoerTek employs about 37,000 people. With Dynaudio moving into wireless active speakers (and car audio) in a big way the sharing of the expertise and knowledge that these two companies have, not to mention the huge monetary investment that GoerTek can provide, is likely to be a good thing for Dynaudio.

It still feels a bit uncomfortable though.

Hey, I forgot about that. Dynaudio is chucking out some really nice wifi actives for residential hi-fi.

After all it may not be a one way ownership but a good partnership. *good*

I don't want to be the spoiler here but that might work for the short come... When i look to the future 2/3 years i'm not that optimist, if the chinese decide to move production to China, they will, and if they decide to cut in controle quality they will, is that simple! What can a 15% partner do against it???
