Can anyone kind enough to give some comments on these two speakers? As I usually play the music on the background and doing something else, will Dyna better on this? or ATC can do the same? Pop music will be the most played type and maybe some vocal as well.

Plan to use Roksan K2 as the amp.

There has been some hot debates regarding ATC speakers. If most of your music is played at idle levels, I would suggest the Dynaudio's would demonstrate a little more flexibility in this area - only just. However the ATC's will sound more controlled closer to a back wall.

The choice is yours.....

The Dyns will have more bass especially at lower volumes and will be less critical of POP recordings. ATC give a more accurate sound and will be easier to position. However the Dyns cost double the ATCs so bear that in mind.

Most of what has been said is pretty much on the money.

The ATC's have a leaner sound compared to the Dyn's, and as a result will display a more open sound which will be more in line with higher end speakers. They do tend to prefer a little more driving than the Dyn's, and will work very well when placed against a rear wall as they're a sealed design. The Dyn's have a bassier, warmer sound, which will suit lower level listening better, and will be a little more kind to lean, harsh recordings. As they produce more bass, they will need some space between them and the back wall as they're a rear ported design.

Both are a little awkward for amps in their own way - the Dyn's because of their 4ohm load, and the SCM7's due to their 85dB sensitivity. Your Roksan should be fine though.

Personally I'd prefer the detail and edgier sound of the ATC's, but some may prefer the softer, sweeter sound the Dyn's will produce. Worth a side by side audition if you can. May also be worth trying the KEF XQ10's too, which are sort of between the two.

how big is your room? the 110's will need 50cm of space behind them, minimum.

also, as others have said, there is a big difference in the type of sound each speaker will produce. you really do need to demo, you might love one and hate the other.

Talking about Focus 110 i think it`s wiser to compare them with Atc SCM 11 !

They are in a similar price range ..

FrankHarveyHiFi What would you say about these two?

Thanks for all your reply

But in term of size, Dynaudio F110s has similar size as ATC SCM7. And as I played the music as background and not intend to play in high volume, I guess Dynaudio might fix my taste better then ATC 7. Just hope Roksan K2 will fix Dyn well.

Anyone wants to give more comments, if you own one of these fantastic speaker?

Thank you.

Not a helpful comment as such, but curious as to why you'd want either of these speakers if they are 'just for background' listening? Why not just spend £150-200 on a used proac or B&W or something like that off fleabay?

^ What he said.

OR, if you want brand new, (which I can understand), just get B&W 686 or 685, these work very well at low levels IMO.

I would be wary of the B&W 686 and 685 as many forum posters have said they need a decent volume to start to shine. At low levels i thought the general opinion was they were not that great.

you shouldn't use the cabinet size to determine the bass output, the 110's go deeper in the bass then my atc's, which are at least twice the size. you should consider pmc db1i if you want a small standmount that can put out a suprising amount of bass. will go closer to a wall then the focus and won't require such a hefty amp to sound at its best. i preferred the focus but the db1i is a very musical sounding speaker and might be just what you're after.

i should also add, i found the 110's still needed a bit of volume to "wake up"

Another quick question 🙂 if it is all about background music ..why focus ... why not Excite ? 12 or 16 - far easier load

Well my 685s sound great, even when whisper quiet, which I was very pleasantly surprised at 🙂

If your talking cheaper Excite range then, quite possibly, the 110's would get the most from the K2. This doesn't mean the cheaper ones won't do a decent job - because they will. It is just the Focus will demonstrate more detail and scale better - far more to the Roksan's liking....

They are in a similar price range ..True, but I'd still say the comparisons I have made are relevant

685 are great speak in it's price range however, it sounds more AV and clarity is a issue. For 686 from my personal opinion it is not even close to 685. For background listening, I did not mean treat it like a mini system, but sometimes will not sit in front of these speakers to listen.

And the reason I am thinking the focus 110 is this is the price I can almost afford, and the smaller size is perfect for my room as well as the ATC 7 (SCM11 is little too big). 110 has stronger bass and can present sound stage very well, I guess this is the benefit from Dyns.

But if I go with ATC 7, it will save me some money for a CD player suck like a NAD C545BEE or Marantz CD6003.

Cheers
