I've heard the 805s many times, but I have not had the pleasure of hearing the C1s, but I would suspect from the reviews that the difference would be substantial. The main difference is that the C1s sound like full range floor standing speakers. They have the detail and clarity to match the 805s on the top end, but have fabulous full range bass that the 805s do not have. I would expect a pretty dramatic change in listening experience...

B&W 805S although they sound very detailed and controlled have to be the most boring, laid back speakers I have heard.

When I auditioned them, I couldn't stand them and much preferred Dynaudio Audience 52SE's, even though they sounded "all over the shop" in terms of control / focus in comparison.

From my experience of Dynaudio speakers, they will sound very neutral, time well, musical and have a really balance from top to bottom, but particularly the midrange and the bass.

I would also advice that a good quality power amp is a MUST for a speaker like this. I've auditioned the contour 1.4, with my MF A3 amp, which didn't have enough power to drive it properly. The speaker only opened by when drive at high volumes and at lower volumes sounded constrained / shut in, this is because of the amp, and not the speaker itself.

If you got the money and the amplifier and you think you can get a bargain, got for it., though I personally recommend you buy from a dealer and get an audition, as this will save expensive mistakes and save you money in the long run.

Cheers Sometimesuk!
However, must say i totally disagree with the 805S sounding boring. They are still the best standmounters that i have ever heard including WB squares, Focals, Kefs XQs, Spendors and a host of others ive heard. I have not however, heard the C1s or anything from a higher range. I prefered them to the MA pl100 too and they are much cheaper. Boring is never a word i would use to describe them but each to thier own i suppose! Thanks for the insight into the C1 though. I think my amps should be powerful enough and i think you are right i defo should audition before making a potentially expensive mistake.
Regards!
