in case anyone hasnt heard , (i doubt that
emotion-4.gif
) ive recently bought a nice amp and speakers , as the first components of a very nice (for me)home cinema setup , but ive found some very unexpected results , as well as appreciating the more involving sound from dvds and blu-rays (better when i have sub , centre and sats) ive just been captivated by listening to music ..

now , dont get me wrong , ive always loved music , but ive not really listened to it much for ages , apart from on the radio while driving , or in a club , ive kinda forgot about it as a way to spend a relaxing evening , as ive not had anything decent to play it on..

but since wednesday , ive bought 5 cds , and only glanced at my blu-rays to see what they sound like , im far too busy enjoying the amazing sound from my cds , in fact id go as far as to say that the music is inspiring me (take the mick if you like) , it really is , its like ive found loads of energy that i remember from the past , it really is that good listening to music on this setup , im a very happy newbie hifi chappie

And just think how much better they would sound played through a CDP and a stereo amp?

I'm breaking through

I'm bending spoons

I'm keeping flowers in full bloom

I'm looking for answers from the great beyond

Max, have a look at connecting your hifi to spotify ... can be cheaply done, and you may end up saving on buying cd's (and have loads of music to listen to)

spotify has worked the opposite for me though .... have ended up buying loads more cd's

I think I'll have a few of those beers too. What ya drinking fella?

pejwright:I think I'll have a few of those beers too. What ya drinking fella?lol , hey , ive had about 6 cans of bud , and ive won some money , and im listening to great music , that sounds fantastic ..

if that doesnt give a fella a boost what does ? better than watching the dark knight for the hundreth time while checking the black levels , non ?

Same happened to me. I'd got a budget Marantz stereo amp and Sony bookshelf speakers, with my TV doing the surround sound. Played CDs on my Marantz DVD player sometimes and it was good, but I mainly listened to music in my car.

Upgraded to Tannoy Arena and a Marantz SR6001, for films mostly, but was blown away by the music performance. Now buy loads more CDs and got a Sonos a while after. I FLAC them all and play through that.

Like yourself have ended up more into music than ever before, and got a keyboard / synthesizer at Christmas to have a go myself! Might also have go on the beer in a bit when the other half gets back!

Don't taking any further advice from anyone. Don't change anything.

You have reached a very enviable position with your system. Sit back, enjoy.

nice one matt not sure how long you have had you br5's but they loosen up loads after 100hours or so so you might be in for a treat. Try and get a live rem album i think it has a red cover you will love it

cheers suggs , i guess its madness to expect even more from these speakers , but i had a close escape , i could have ended up with mission 33is , that would have been a crying shame , but dont quote me on that , i like music while driving in my car , but thats an embarresment , the higher quality sound of the m.a.s. give me a reason to have a house of fun the ,the MA silvers might have been one step beyond , if i didnt care it wouldnt matter , it must be love , my girl loves them too , but you got to keep moving i guess , towards the land of hope and glory , speakers will rise and fall i suppose , its a sign of the times , good sound ? you can take it or leave it , after all , tomorows just another day , the most important thing is wonderful lyrics , according to yesterdays men....

9 cans by the way ...

Yep as much as i like a good BluRay movie, i also like to spend a few hours listing to good music..........

Came home from work this afternoon and spent a few hours in the attic listing to Depeche Mode through my 20 year old Marantz CD 42mkII, Nad 314 and Acoustic Energy NEO 3 speakers, again very budget system around these parts, but sounds great to me...

Sure does, the Neo 3's are truly fantastic for my money but it sucks that you guys can't get spotify. I have no idea why that is, hopefully it gets resolved soon

I enjoy a good film but it will never come close to music for me.

I've re-connected my Squeezebox up this week and, along with the sheer pleasure of listening to the NAD after all those inferior amps, it has thrown me right back into the centre of the music. I'm spending ages sampling new stuff by downloading tracks from iTunes and then streaming them through the Squeezebox and hi-fi.

I agree with Chebby as well. If you are enjoying the music, don't get swept into the whole 'something even better' cycle. An 'upgrade' or change can damage your enjoyment as much as it can improve it. Just focus on enjoying what you have.

Great stuff.
