I have gotten into the habit of listening to various ambience tracks using spotify i.e. sounds of the sea etc using my surround equipment.

Is there any way at all I can also use the same sytem at the same time for watching TV.

Basicly normal TV viewing, but with my own custom background sounds also playing.

At the moment my TV sound comes directly from Humax PVR RCA output to an input on my reciever. But then when I switch to Spotify I have to change inputs. So it's one or the other. How can I get both to play through my surround system.

Maybe some kind of mixer and if so what should I look for and how to set up etc....

Hope someone has ideas, thanks.

Turn the TV volume up whilst listening to your music!

What amp/receiver do you have??

Sony 1200es - front preouts into Pioneer A-607R. The pioneer's aging now but the direct switch sounds great with my B&W's.

The TV's speakers can't compare with a dedicated centre speaker.

Well one possibility (depending on how the Humax is connected to the TV) if your TV has an RCA output is that you could connect this directly to the Pioneer amp. Then you can use spotify as usual but the front two speakers can be used for either Spotify or the TV as you want.

If you have digital out on your pc and can select assign inputs on the amp then use the analogue as now but change to digital when you want the sound from the pc not the humax.

If that makes sense, it is early!

I thought one of these might work. http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/behringer-xenyx-802/70282

If I plug the Humax audio into it. The computer audio into it. Then send the output to my reciever. I could then adjust the balance between TV surround volume and the background audio/music/ambience. But all the inputs seem to be 1/4" jacks, not RCA. Hmmm. Would there be a way round this like a RCA to 1/4" jack adapter?

Thanks

Messiah, slighlty off the thread..but I hope not too much. I'm on the verge of buying some 9.1's with the sub. Auditioned them in my living room and they sounded absolutely as described: uncoloured with impressive sound stage. The only reason I hesitate is because I plan to use them occassionally with movies and have some concern about image/sound sync and lack of a center channel. Don't want to drop down in quality to the Neutron system. You're obviously a big fan of the ADM9.1. Are my worries over nothing? (Music is the most important application for me).

Cheers
