From your list, I'd choose Santana. I'd also give Michael Jackson's Thriller a try.

Those of us that have dabbled with high resolution downloads, have not been as impressed as the hype suggests we should have been.

The original recording (equipment and technique) is always going to be more influential to sound quality than the difference between CD and anything 'better'.

Let us know what you think of DSD when compared to your best sounding CDs.

Try 'random access memories ' from daft punk from HD tracks.

+1

Along with anything that was recorded direct to dsd from the likes of Blue Coast Music, however being American, the downloads are expensive.

Check out other publications that actually review hires downloads to the point of tearing them to pieces if they turn out to be merely an upsampled CD.

I've recommended this a few times freebies recorded in different formats to see if you can tell the difference. Plus a few surround tracks should you wish to try it.

Happy fishing:

Very nearly all of the recordings mentioned are not remotely hi-res, some analogue, some regular pcm. Converting them to DSD is simply upsampling using a different and more expensive method. Any real improvements will be the results of superior mastering and higher quality filtering in the playback system.

All of which can be produced without any DSD involvement whatsoever.

There are some recordings made using DSD technology, that is totally different, I don't think that includes any of the artists mentioned.

found some free dsd samples but how about windows bit rate and samplerate do i have to change that in windows to?

http://www.2l.no/hires/index.html

My dac's led is green is that indicating it's playing dsd/hi res files? https://www.optomausa.com/audioproduct/udac5

Looking at the second of your above links, toward the bottom of the page they show the audio players compatible with DSD.

What does the manual say about the LED? Does its colour represent the sample rate being received? If so, then it's easy to confirm what you're giving it.

On your Windows PC, have a look at the sound settings (by right-clicking on the toolbar speaker icon then selecting 'audio devices')

In the box, on the play tab, you will (should) see the DAC listed. Highlight it then click 'properties' then 'advanced' where you will see a pull-down box showing bit/sample rates.
