I noticed on HDTracks that DSD is available for some albums now, what is surprising is its cheaper, often £14, than other formats such as FLAC, also it is often the only format that is available to UK residents. So if you are looking for a certain hi res album it maybe worth a look at DSD. I find the site a nightmre to navigate. The search function is pretty useless, the best way to find them put in DSD and it should come up with them all or if you are in an album then you have to go to sample rate and see if DSD is there.

I see yes I'm not familiar with that. I did try JRiver but could not get it to work. Just thought its odd that DSD is cheaper and available in UK when other formats are not due to country restrictions.

I emailed hegel and they sent me screen shots for all the settings - the customer services from hegel is very good. The best ive ever had from a manufactuer. They reply very fast also.
When i originally installed jriver i never selected dsd as a format (only the usual wav, flac mp4 etc) so even when i tried it would not play. So got me changing the setting to dop dsd without bitstreaming)
But my dac supports full true
Dsd. Am very excited setting it up now as we speak.

All ive done was de-install jriver and reinstall selecting the dsd tick box. Now using the settings now. Will report back

Well done. I have found with HDTracks that some albums are only available for a short time, so if there is anything you want I would get now. In UK we are restricted to a limited number anyway, most annoying. Other USA companies don't have any outside USA/Canada.

There has been a bit of critisism of HDtracks on the recent albums, i don;t think the remastering has been paid that much attention. I think their best work is on older albums. Probably best to read reviews on their forum before buying. It will be interesting if the Japanese re/masters will be available as DSD downloads. Its annoying that classic albums like Who's Next is no longer available on HDTracks and the SACD is very expensive.

my problem is my genre is hardly avaiable on dsd - the dynamic range is very good on dsd - can start of really quiet then can go very loud -

Im not convinced that the format has any bearing on the dynamic range, cds have up 94 DB range that is more than enough for any record, if DSD gives you access to more uncompressed music then all well and good. Yes range of music is rather limited at the moment, there an odd oldie I may get like Santana Abraxus, Who's Next and some jazz classics, but it will only be the odd special album. Problem is now there are too many formats.

Think you need a very revealing system to notice any improvements. Now where to buy decent music to test?

Some of the specialist labels offer test files for this purpose. Have a look at the 2L label, or NativeDSD, although the majority of the files offered are classical.
