Which sub and centre did you recommend for them again, the Kef ones?

Let the dealers talk through the options....and be guided by what you hear and how much sound per pound it gives you.

The quality of the speakers you go for is dependant on the amp you choose...and I happen to like Kef (but you should hear other options)

If dealing with David, try LS50s all round and PMCs

If dealing with Soundcraft, you could compare B&W with PMC and Arcam with Anthem.

Thanks, read it, I quoted again about which speakers you recommended with the Kef ones? You recommended (I think) a Kef reference centre and a sub?

I suggested the Reference centre in the light of competing with the equivalent B&W one...and using the AV850.

At this stage, start with a much humbler system and see what it gives you....only then should other options be considered.

Remember, go through simple stages, without getting ahead of yourself.

I have concluded from my quotes B&W high end speakers and the Arcam 850 are out of my price range, but I like the idea of the Kefs and taking it from there.

That's good.....but the Kefs are only a good idea, if you prefer them to what you have at the moment and any offerings from B&W/PMC etc.

As you say, try the Kefs and take it from there....David should be able to accomodate you. The place to start is a Pioneer amp, which will give you a good idea what they would sound like on the end of yours (they even do a PV1D).

Yep, I planned to try them with a Pioneer amp to start with. Cheers.

Next time I need a new system I will go to Coventry!

By that statement it appears you have ignored everything Cno has said and won't be arranging this soon
Not ignored, just decided to keep my system until I can buy a second system for another room. I would like to keep my system as I love it so much.

Its hard for me to go for a demo due to personal circumstances.

I dont know you personally, but a train wouldnt be hugely expensive and anyone can jump on a train (certain physical disabilities aside) or if your Dad is into the hobby as well get him to take you and go for the day if you dont fancy a train.

My dad doesn't want to go for a demo and I don't want to go on a train.

Your asking him to drive you somewhere as a favour - he can go off and have a nice lunch or do some shopping in town or whatever and then come and get you after in a few hours. I am sure your parents are not adversed to doing you favours given your situation

Gel where there is a will there is an obvious and easy solution to a non problem you are creating for yourself. I appreciate you might have some issues dude but loads of people do, but they still crack on because its worth it or they have to.

There is no point going over any more ideas or situations or anything with you - because its actually just troll or BS really being written. Sorry if it seems hard but its true

No one has asked you to explain yourself but you could have said - there is no way I am leaving the house to go for a demo 10 pages ago - if I buy something for AV it will therefore be a pure guess with a 85-90% chance I will be returning it within 48hours because it doesnt work out - but I am happy with that.

There is no point asking for any advice on putting any system together as its all conjecture and really its personal BS from the individual - means nothing. I cant believe I was suckered into this thread and spent as much time on it as I have. I appreciate you didnt ask for it - but you didnt say the above either.

I never said I am definitely going for a demo?

I said half way through this thread I had decided not to buy anything and that can we continue with the thread anyway. If you choose to ignore these facts that's up to you.

Cant believe I am writing again - Gel Noone said you had to buy anything - just go and listen therefore when you do buy something you buy the right thing - for once

That is all we have been saying for page and after page - but I am sorry you are a lost cause for the normal logic of something simple like that.

I have bought 3 home cinema systems before, I think I know what I am doing. I have them professionally setup too for the speakers in their position. I think your the one with the problem, no wonder 13 people voted they didn't like your systems!
