dolby true hd/dts master full bitrate compared to 5.1 analogue core

is it worth getting a new amp with the hdmi's for full bit rate true hd and dts MA?

at current i have a pioneer vsx 417 and can only get the new formats through 5.1 analogue.

not only is it messy but i have to constantly mess with bass management.

my question is,

how much better does it sound having the pure and full bitrate compared to the "core" dts and dolby true hd through 5.1 analogues?

I'm not going to change my receiver shortly but I do believe that receivers perform better by decoding signals themselves.
