Hi all,

Am deciding whether or not to run my speaker cable under the floorboards as opposed to above the floor. My house has a cellar beneath with a "good" flow of UK air through it. If I put my cable under the floorboards will the temperature difference cause any issues with the sound quality??

Thanks

No Matty Fegan, I am not taking the P***. It is a simple question, and deserves a simple answer.

A question no matter how stupid is still a question if you do not know the answer.

If someone knows the answer, then all is well. It is the way in which you answer, that shows your matturity.

However, obviously you are not adult enough to give a serious answer.

Hi true blue, yes your question is a very different one but still a question all the same, it doesnt affect the sound quality at all, a friend of a friend had done that before & ran cable under the floorboards (his wifes request) & no he didnt say it degraded the sound, i think the sheaf that goes over the cable protects from issues like that anyway.

Jase,

Thankyou for your response. The reason that I asked is that as we know resistance alters with temperature, but if it is not discernable to our ears then that is good news to me.

Appreciated 🙂

I see entirely were your coming from however, if you were to move to the poles and ran your cable through your igloo then that could be a whole new ball game ha

Only extreme temperature differences will affect the properties of the cable. Under floor boards will be fine. Thats exactly how ive wired mine. If your concerned then install 20 or 25mm PVC conduit.
