Do i need HTPC????

going to buy a new TV in the new year 95% chance of panny 50" g20, now this can stream various files, and my amp can stream music so my question is do you think i need a HTPC (home theatre pc)

I already own a beast of a pc, and i think i'm trying to talk myself out of it, trouble is i like to have all the gadgets!!!!!! so am i just being silly considering my other equipment can stream what i want or is there anything i may of missed??????

You can buy a mediaplayer like a WD tv Live, it works perfect. Consider a LG plasma too! The px990 is the same price as the g20 and it will be better and it is 3d too
