bought a hifi usb able usb 2.0 A MALE TO B MALE di I have the correct cable to hook my elac desktop speakers to my iMac ?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you've got everything you need to answer your own question haven't you?

Do your plugs look like your sockets?
Do they fit?
Instruction manuals tell you what the sockets give out and want in👍

Hi the usb fits to the usb port to the speaker and the the usb fits the iMac but it doesn’t work? No instructions manual

Use the internet to confirm whether you've done that correctly in your iMac.

Assuming you've also selected the USB input on your speakers.....enter their model number online to checkout their instructions.

I can't imagine ever buying anything without instructions, they come in handy 👍

I’m trying to drive the speakers through my usb input on the iMac, is this where I’m going wrong? I’m sure it says on the ELAC website yiu only need a printer cable . That’s what I have

No, using a USB output is not where you're going wrong, but you will need to double check the procedure for setting up the iMac to use an external DAC.
