Disabling backlight on Cyrus remote

Apologies for the very specificpost but I have a Cyrus 8a amp which came with a remote control which I think is model IR14. The remote has a backlight which is set off by motion, and its burning through batteries as a result at a rate of knots. Has anyone had this sme problem and is there a way to disable the backlight?

They are pants.i used a Arcam one instead.much better

Sorry, can't help. Using an AVRS 7.2 (What a daft name for a remote).

Use rechargeables. It may still be annoying but no fiscal harm done that way.
