Hello everyone,

Apologies I have not been on the forums recently but two new product launches has been exceptionally time consuming!

With regards to directionality of cables there are two mains reasons: shielding and conductor process. Some shielded cables will have the shielding connected at one end only. If not directly coupled to ground, shielding usually performs best when grounded at source, so this is why these cables may indicate directionality. Another factor is the conductor process which can affect performance (e.g., some manufacturers will indicate directionality in relation to the direction in which the metal has been drawn or processed).

Specifically with regards to HDMI cables, the shielding on these cables is always ground at both ends so directionality has no bearing here. However as mentioned above a manufacturer may indicate directionality based upon the conductor process (as we do with our Copper-line HDMI Interconnect).

In any event you can always test a cable in both directions and see if you can hear a difference.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,
Darren
