Digital Audio Muted

Hi,

I have just changed my Denon DVD1930 for a Marantz DV6001 DVD player.
This DVD player is connected to my tv via HDMI and to my amp via coax.

My problem is that the DVD player mutes the digital audio out connections if it outputs on HDMI ( to the tv). This means that I can not watch a DVD in surround via my amp.

It does however output on the analouge connections.
My TV also has a digital audio out.
I always thought that it was best to output via a digital connection to the amp but this looks impossible with this player.

What would be the best way to connect my tv, amp, and dvd player so I can watch a DVD via the TV sound or amp surround.

Thanks for any replys.

Actually, I'd be interested to know what people think of this one, if anyone can help? I've just ordered a Marantz DV6001, so I'll be pretty upset if I can't connect it to a receiver to watch DVDs with a surround sound system.

Johnny1517, have you had any joy yet?
