Hi ,

Had DFX on my pc ( winamp) prior to getting a DAC .It always seemed to make the music a lot brighter and clearer , but i was always suspicious that it " flattened " the sound when turned off rather than enhanced when on if that makes sense ! ( as in buy me aint i great when on kinda way ......glass half full etc ! )

heres the question , I have just put a DAC between PC and amp ( have been told it will develop sound over a bit of use ....is that true ? ) so will putting DFX on just create more muddle or does it REALLY work ?

any thoughts/opinions out of curiosity ? ( polite ones ! )

Which DAC do you have? A DAC's main purpose in a studio environment is to not add any colour to the sound, just to portray it exactly as is. The benefits you get from a good DAC are excellent timing with a very detailed, concise sound which is distortion free. If you expecting your DAC to change massively in character you're in for a long wait.

With DFX though it is subjective. If you think it sounds better with it on and don't mind the intrusion, leave it on.
