Well we haven't tested the Denon - though the models either side of it in the range have been solid, four-star products - as was the Yamaha when we tested it a year ago... And that's the killer: the Yamaha's spec already looks outdated compared to the Denon, which offers HDMI 1.3a and HD audio support, among other 2007 refinements.
you should ask yourself the question:
Denon AVR -3808 or Yamaha RX 3800?
This receiver offers also HDMI 1.3 a and sounds outstanding.
The RX 2700 could be an option for you if you can pick it up much cheaper and you do not need HD sound.
