I need to get an AV Receiver and was trying to compare the Denon 3808 vs the 2809 but I can't figure out the main differences in terms of specs/features. Would the 3808 still beat out the 2809 in terms of specs/features? Or should I wait for the 2809 instead of buying the 3808 which is available now? Can someone help me please? Thanks!

Here are the specs for the Denon AVR-3808. Full specs not yet available for the new AVR-2809 (news story here, for those who haven't seen it), but the main differences are:

2809 is 115W/channel - 3808 is 160W/channel

3808 also has the suite of networking facilities - enabling it to take advantage of everything from internet radio to music streaming - that the 2809 does not have.

So, if extra power and connectivity are your bag, the AVR-3808 could be for you.

Thanks for the reply Clare.

How would you compare the Denon 3808 vs. the Onkyo 875? Which one would you recommend assuming that the video processing and sound for movies and music is more important than networking capabilities?

Is there any way to "add" networking capabilities to an AV Receiver that does not come with it? What would be the best way to play videos that have been downloaded from the internet on the TV?

Thanks.

If you require networking abilities, but want the Onk's picture processing, take a look at the 905. You'll pay for the privilege though as it's £400 more than the 875.
