Hi guys

recently I have been looking for any up coming rewies on What Hifi about new Denon receivers however nothing here yet.

my question is how good the new receivers are compared to last X series , as i would like to move on from my x2000 to something better however i have no idea what difference i may expect from x4100 or x 5200 when compared to my x2000.

Maybe we have any owners of these models or maybe some one has any info about any reviews ?? I will appriciate any informations guys .

And sorry for my writing but this iss my first post here.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

the difference between the 2 receivers will be power output and Dolby atmos configuration.

i have the x4100 which I upgraded from the 2113 so I'm a Denon fan. The x4100 will give you a 5.1.2 for Dolby atmos which means the usual 5.1 plus 2 dolby atmos at the front and can be either upfiring or down firing atmos speakers. I've added a Denon power amp so that I can have a 5.1.4 config and enables me to have 2 extra atmos speakers at the rear. I have the onkyo upfiring speakers at £120 per pair and they sound amazing. I can't drill wholes in my ceiling for down firing speakers.

the 5200 will give you more power and also allow a 5.1.4 config without the need for an aditional power amp or a 7.1.2. If you want a 7.1.4 config then you'll need an additional power amp.

back to the x4100; it will be very simular to your x2000 when setting up but the difference in power and sound quality compared to my 2113 is night and day with the x4100 beating it hands down.

depending on your room size and if you want atmos, then the x4100 is a good buy and is heavily discounted at the moment.

have you looked at Marantz? They are the sister company of Denon so they use some of the same parts but are also a good choice with the 7009 at a good price at the moment.

My advice would be to audition them before you purchase as every body wil have a different opinion on how they sound.

Agreed.

Check reviews on AV forums.

Thank you very much for answering.

I was thinking about 7009 but one more question it is more like 4100 or 5200 ??

Bigboss i know that you have one of these what you can tell as a owner ??

how it is performing as home cinema and how does it go with the music ??

Reviews of Denon AVRs are unfrequent here as I find the reviewers quite heavily biased on Pioneer and Yamaha (and whatever else Richer Sounds sells).

I have a Denon x4000 and got last week the Marantz 7009: it is a truly nice receiver but honestly no improvement in sound unless you need Dolby Atmos (I could not care less and listen on a 4.1 KEF R-series setup) so it is going back to the store.

The 2 do not sound identical to my ears, with the Marantz surprisingly more clinical (= opposite of warm in common jargon) which is not what i expected.

I think the x4100w is a good buy right now at 679£. It also offers more DSPs and more customisation than the Marantz, if that can be of interest to you.
