Hi all new to the site and am in need of some wise words. Looking for a new reciever and have narrowed it down to the denon 3808, however with the 2809 due later this year and the improvement of the 1909 over the 1908, i'm in two minds as to what to buy. Will the 2809 be a better than the 3808? any help will be great. cheers

MORGIE1983:Will the 2809 be a better than the 3808?
I know it's a cliche, but, it really is hard to tell before it's released. From what I can see feature wise, the 2808 lacks upscaling so it's more than likely this will be introduced on the 2809 I think. And if they improve the sound the way they have the 1909 (at least according to reviews anyway - I haven't heard it myself) - there's definitely a chance it may be better. Only time will tell...

The 2808 has upscaling.

Yeah; it certainly has! Waiting for it to arrive because it's on his way to me...

Back on-topic: I Think the 3808 would be a very good choice since it is of a higher 'breed'. But on the other hand, maybe if you can maintain your cool, it will be a little cheaper since newer models are on the way...

P.S: bought my 2808 for as litlle as 599 euro's, that's about 472 GBP, was reason enough for me NOT to wait for the newer models...

I think whatever your definite choice will be, you won't regret is.

I've just seen that on Denon's website, as you say, they are only claiming 1080i - this is a mistake. Defo 1080p.
