I've connected my Onkyo ND-S1 iPod dock to the 2310 via digital optical cable. I'm pleased with the sound, but understand that if I'd bought a Denon dock I could have enjoyed increased functionality by connecting a separate cable. I wonder if anybody is able to tell me what these additional features are and if there's any way of getting them with the Onkyo.

Thanks

Hi. I've attached the ASD-3N Denon dock to my 1910. The additional functionality I get as opposed to your Onkyo would probably be the ability to watch ipod-based video through S-Video, as well as using the dock to get internet radio (among others) to play on my hi-fi through the receiver. No idea if the ND-S1 can do this for you...

That said, your onkyo is an awesome transport rivaled only by the wadia 170i. Enjoy it! Cheers...

Getting a Denon dock you'll also be able to anjoy a slow clunky interface which takes an age to cycle through music.

heh - exactly what NSYGrinner said! I bought a Denon dock and unplugged the Denon-link after about 18 hours. It was 10 times faster to get out of my seat and go and use the click wheel than it was to scroll through my song list via the remote control function.
