Hi' WHFSAV team.

I,m looking to buy a 50inc Pioneer screen.I have a choice between the FULL HD 8Gen model and the 9G, and just wanted to know when you done the review did you compare them both?.Did you see any difference?,
and if so what were they.I have had the chance to compare them side by side and i could only see that the new model had only very very slightly better black levels but the bigger issue for me was that the new model looked cleaner and sharper.Am i right in my observation or was i just imagining things,my theory is maybe because the blacks are slightly better you get cleaner and sharper picture. Can you please answer my post as soon as you can because i will have to decide today afternoon, they only have two 8G available for £1999 2years wrty and free wallbraket(i haven't seen anywhere else)and 9gen is £2499 free wallbraket.PS.don't care about price but picture does.Main issue sharper and cleaner picture am i right?.PS.sorry i forgot to ask, anything
you notice on color quality on one or the other?.

Thanks.

If this information will help I have just bought a LX5090 and what a great picture even with Freeview,I compared the both models and as you know opted for the afore mentioned tv. I bought it from TLC Broadcast with speakers stand and 5yr warranty £2400.

Good Luck

Andrew Everard:The 8G model is still a remarkable set, but for all the reasons you've already identified I'd buy the 9G model if I were you

Thanks Andrew.

What i wanted to know if the new set has a more cleaner sharper picture and with slightly better colors,i don't care too much about the black levels because its already good on the old set.
PS.so am i right with my observation.

Here's how I see it (and indeed saw it). The 9G is a step up from the 8G - slightly better blacks and motion- and colour-handling - but it's not the revolutionary improvement that the Kuros were over previous plasmas.

In the meantime, the competition have been doing some serious catch-up - Panasonic's 2008 plasmas and (more surprisingly) Sony LCDs being of notable mention, with some high-end plasma models due from Samsung that look tempting, too.

Would I still take a 2007 Pioneer Kuro over the other-brand 2008 sets we've tested so far? Probably, yes - at the prices they're currently going for.
But if ultimate performance was my goal, i'd try and find the extra for the 2008/9G Pioneer Kujro model - if you want the best, it's worth it.

Part of the press release about the new 9G sets was the fact that, whilst still the same in most regards, the processing engines in the new sets have been upgraded to eliminate even more video noise when scaling and de-interlacing SD sources. This could be one explanation for what you're seeing.
