DacMagic settings

Finally purchaced a Dacmagic last week, happy with it but wondered if any owners can give me a rundown of the different settings. The explanations in the manual go straight over my head. There are three filters, Linear, minimum & steep. Also there is an 'invert' option. I can hear a difference switching between the filters but want a fuller understanding of what they actually do. Can anyone help? Thanks.

God, yes, it is confusing - I remember when I bought mine I read the instructions again and again, too. Eventually I just left it on the default setting which seems to sound half way between the other two and I forgot about the whole thing. So many memories...restless days, sleepless nights...no electronics degree to help me...
