Hello,

Does anyone know if an increasing number at the end of a DAC model indicates an increase in quality? E.g. Burr-Brown PCM1738, 1791, 1792, 1798... I would presume yes, so perhaps it's a daft question and answers itself but would appreciate info from someone who knows.

Thanks.

Thanks. Trying to work out the standalone equivalent of the 'd' in Cyrus PreXPd - equivalent to £200 DACs (Dacmagic, Beresford) or better than that? I know it depends on more than just the chip, other components, power supply etc. come into play.

Wondering whether to get PreXP without the 'd' and get separate DAC, but at which price point? Input will be USB from laptop, though I may hook up CD6SE via optical out of curiosity. Any opinions?
