DAC by taste

Hello,

I was wondering if somebody knows which DACs are more appropriate for listening jazz or classic music. Anything existing in the 500 pounds range?

I know it's a very personal experience, but I don't have the possibility to go and try them out.

Try the Rega...should sound great. Failing that, the Arcam.

I have tried three, all with jazz and classical (among other genres). My impression was:

- chordette gem - excellent

- benchamrk dac 1 hdr - excellent

- grace designs m902 - good

I'm using the MF V-Dac, which is also very good for classical and jazz. It is more of an entry-level DAC than some of the ohers mentioned so far and has a limited numbers of inputs, but I believe it is made for the genres you like...
